I&#8217;m a big fan of Dear Data, so I recently purchased the Observe, Collect and Draw! Visual Journey. I choose a simple visualisation, &#8216;What My Camera Sees&#8217; &#8211; reviewing 160 photos from a set period and detailing the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I deliberately choose my recent holiday (as I haven&#8217;t been able to leave Hong Kong for three years) and went from there. Straight away, there&#8217;s some manipulation on my part. Why didn&#8217;t I start today and go back? Are the last 160 photos in my camera roll too dull? The second thing I noticed was that it was quite challenging to fit into someone&#8217;s narrative. I perhaps wouldn&#8217;t have chosen the same categories, and what I produced didn&#8217;t necessarily feel authentic to me, more like going through the motions with someone else&#8217;s idea. There are some interesting parallels to our previous discussions on raw data and how we collect, interpret and analyse.
