The impact of my daily judgements may not often have significant consequences (thankfully I am not a surgeon!) but it did give me lots of food for thought about the wider implications of whether the judgements made in educational institutions are correct, or as correct as they could/should be and the impact these judgements have in policy making. The desire to gather more and more data to based decisions on opens up a new layer of complexity around this issue too.
30/11/22

Post 6 – Communication load and data uses – ‘Teaching with data’ block visualisation
My data visualisation with accompanying text to explain how I arrived at my visualisation and the related findings. I have also tried to link this to how information is presented to teachers via dashboards etc, especially the issues that this can have.
11/11/22

Post 5 – Communication flow
Some reflections on the data collection stage of the next visualisation exercise. Lots of questions, which the readings have helped me address these, but I wanted to share my thinking around where my data collection has prompted some of the questions. Off now to being to create the visualisation and make some observations on that process.
04/11/22

Post 4 – Screen time visualisation – ‘Learning with data’ block visualisation
I chose a data visualisation this week that would use ‘fixed’ data ie, not my notes/records but information that had been collected about me from elsewhere, in this case it was Apple who had recorded my phone usage. There were lots of angles to consider here, what data was collected, how this might have been used, how this information from millions of users would look etc. However, I focused on my reflections on the process as well as considered a couple of aspects of impact on Edtech. I was pleased with my actual visualisation but appreciate there would be many other ways to present the information depending on what aspects of the data I wanted highlighted the most in its presentation.

20/10/22

Post 3 – Data collection and visualisation – Practice visualisation
My data visualisation on personalised food choices in my family. Food occupies much of my thoughts so it seemed a good place to focus on for this data collection exercise. I have also previously liked the idea that learning is a process made up of many components or elements, much like a recipe. I perhaps in this post focused not as much as I should have on the actual visualisation but played with the observations as a result of that exercise and compared them to personalised learning situations.

14/10/22

Post 2 – Reflections on some aspects of ‘Personalisation’.
I wanted to capture some initial thoughts here about some of the readings on personalisation with particular reference to how it is used in the context of my work. With some reflections (mostly questions) as to how this broadens out into the world of Edtech. I will go on to look at other aspects of personalisation when I present my data visualisation.

12/10/11

Post 1 – Hello
Basic intro and a little bit of background on me.
04/10/22

Post 8 – Final reflections – Taking from my own ‘lessons learned’ when completing my visualisation exercises I tried to collate these to highlight key…

["post-2","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
