
I am looking forward to exploring data from a critical view point. The parts of the IDEL course concerning data widened my understandings of the complexities of the subject area, the influencing factors and drivers, alongside the claims that often are attached to these datasets . Critical Data in Education caught my attention as it looks at data from a different perspective by taking longer to consider the construct of data rather than just focusing on the end outputs which in my mind are often the focus.
Within my work I often engage with data but often this is presented by others post analysis so taking some time to consider the elements involved in the construction of that data output I hope will be something I will use in my working practice. Especially on those occasions where I am reviewing ‘raw’ data rather then someone else’s interpretation of data.
